Waiting for the Visa - a fun and crazy canyoneering trip with 3 snake encounters
While we were waiting for the visa we went on several trips, including a very fun and crazy canyoneering trip to Blue John (the canyon where Aron Ralston lost his arm) and Slideanide, near Hanksville. The crazy moments were: Rapelling past a rattling rattlesnake a few feet away (yikes!!), and having to pass another rattling rattlesnake on our night hike out of the canyon. Yes, crazy, but oh so fun!
Blue John Canyon:
Somewhere where Aron lost his arm, someone put a fake hand in there (not the real rock, since this one was up high).
During the middle of the night hike out, there was a rattle snake that would not move away. Since this was our only way out, Ken stood in front of it with 2 backpacks in front of him while we ran past behind him! Brave Ken!
This canyon took us a a lot longer than anticipated. Even though it was very late till we got back to the car, we did enjoy the cooler temps!!
Next day adventure: Slideanide. We started the day with very little sleep, but were eager to start early to minimize the heat.
Beautiful rappels:
Sarah taking a short nap in the middle of the day:
Lots of fun sliding around Slideanide!
Brutally hot hike out at the end of the day!
Fun times with fun friends!
