Wales - Fun and beautiful - minus the driving there
Saturday, 27th May - Tuesday, 30th May 2023
For the May Bank holiday we went on a short trip to Wales. We loved everything about Wales except the driving there. The roads were even scarier than in England!
We stayed for 3 nights at Merthyr Tydfil in a house with a shed where we could store our bikes. From there we took day trips to the different locations:
First stop: Bike Park Wales in Merthyr Tydfil (about 3 h from home). The Bikepark was well maintained, fun flowy trails, and well marked.
The place we stayed at had some beautiful vistas:
The next day we went to church in Cardiff and then visited the Cardiff Castle.
This is one of Sarah's favorite castles:
Shopping place in Cardiff
Beach in Cardiff was not as spectacular:
Next day we got to explore some of Wales' amazing coast lines - and here is where the driving got extremely narrow, with hedges 5 meter tall on each side on windy tiny streets.
Huntsman leap
Beautiful sandy beach but not many swimmers
- wetsuit would have been helpful - or a dry suit!
Look at the size of this jellyfish!
There are second hand books everywhere - somewhere near the car park:
Next stop: Tenby - a very cute colorful sea town:
And more very narrow streets:
But the drive through very green Wales is quite a sight!
One more bay: Three Cliffs Bay with one of the highest tide -
one of the most beautiful beaches in Wales
Then off towards Brecon Beacons National Park
Usk Reservoir - Brecon Beacons National Park
Rode around the reservoir (6.2 miles)
and one more ride: 13 miles at Tal Y Bont - Brecons Beacons NP
The END
